Question from INDEPENDENCE, Missouri, USA: I have a replacement job of a sonoco steel building built approx 30yrs ago and I am trying to find sonoco steel or a comperable product to replace and existing damaged panel. Thank You
Expert Answer: Sorry Barry, Sonoco has be gone for a long time and I am not sure what became of their panel rolling equipment.
They had an usual panel with something that looked like an inverted "W" as a stiffner in the center of the pan of the sheet. I have not seen it in many years.
If you are lucky you could maybe steel a wall panel to patch with and replace the wall sheet. If not you will need to steel a panel off the rake end and try to salvage it for the patch. Once on the rake end of the building you may be able to transition to a similar but not the same "R" panel.
Wish I could be of more help. One thing to consider however is a full retrofit of the building. It is surely pretty old and we can help it it is a retrofit.
