Greetings and Welcome!

   Author: Douglas Loft
Location: Winter Park, Florida is now open for business! Your business, that is. Especially if you are a metal building contractor, erector, manufacturer or supplier of accessories, services and/or equipment to the metal building industry. Or maybe you plan to purchase any of the above. And we're glad you're here. I'd like to take a moment here to explain why we're here and what we hope to accomplish. Maybe you could call this a Mission Statement, but I don't want to be nearly that formal about it. Here's what we hope to provide:

A Metal Building Marketplace for buyers to find sellers. Interested sellers. Anybody can pick up a phone book and start making cold calls. We have over 12,000 contractors, erectors and suppliers in our database and can instantly make those contacts for you. Within a few minutes of entering a brief description of your project, we'll submit your needs to vendors in your area and then let you know when we get a positive response. You'll get a list of those vendors who have expressed interest in your specific project along with contact information. You remain anonymous until you decide otherwise. We hope to shorten the time it takes you to find suppliers (contractors, erectors, manufacturers) and maybe even save you some money along the way.

A forum to discuss important issues in the metal building industry. We will have regular and guest columnists who will offer opinions and editorials on all aspects of the metal building industry. What are you doing for leading edge protection? Are you doing Design/Build work, and if so, should you have errors and omissions insurance? Do you? What type of contract forms do you like and what clauses should make you wary? These and many other issues will be discussed and you'll have an opportunity to post your opinion and review responses.

An information archive. We'll archive articles and discussions of popular issues for your future reference. You'll be able to look up information and download forms and other utilities to help you with your business. Additionally, we have our Glossary and Ask the Experts available. There's also our periodic newsletter to let keep you current.

Opinions. I'll attend or show at Metalcon, and other industry tradeshows. I'll let you know what I see, what I like and what I don't like. I'd like to hear your opinions, too - keep those e-mails coming and feel free to post your comments at the bottom of any article.

Promotion. We are FOR the metal building industry and those involved with it. There are many things to do here at no cost to promote your company such as submission of Articles, Photos and Events for publication. Basic Classified Ads are free and can be entered at the bottom of any page of our Classifieds for approval and publication.

Mostly, we want to hear from you. If you're to shy to post a comment, then Contact Us. We love hearing from you.

Comments: Greetings and Welcome!

Nice looking website. The metal building industry could use a good online resource. I wish you well.

Excellent Idea and good Web site. Thank You. We are a relatively new steel erection company trying to figure out how to integrate the internet into our business. Lots of good ideas and possibilities.

We're thinking of building a metal frame for our house. How much do you think it would cost to do that? I heard that the price tag is somewhere in the hundreds of thousands which is something we can't really afford. If it's worth it though we'll go for it. We want to get the best material for our home.
