September 27, 2012, GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Metal Construction Association (MCA), an organization of manufacturers and suppliers whose metal wall and roofing components are used in buildings throughout North America and the main sponsor of METALCON International, will present commercial and residential roof and tool demonstrations at Booth #142 at METALCON International, October 9-11, 2012 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont (Chicago), IL.
The popular MCA Demos are designed to provide insight on the latest roofing and tool technologies, with discussions and demonstrations of the latest techniques and trends. This year's features:
-- Separate tool demonstration sessions have been added to the schedule
-- A centrally located larger seating area allows attendees to easily watch and listen to the outstanding contributors
In addition to one-hour audience demonstrations for residential roofs, commercial roofs and tool demonstrations each day, each of the three areas will be open for attendees to walk through during exhibit hall hours. Participants can ask questions, work with tools, and have one-on-one discussions. This "up close and personal" approach is designed to give more information to take back and use in the field.
MCA's residential roof manufacturer members will focus on proper detailing of metal roof installations. The audience will learn the techniques used with natural metals (copper & zinc) as well as pre-painted aluminum and steel. Both standing seam and metal shingle installations will be displayed.
Commercial roof manufacturer members will focus on retrofit applications with metal. See how existing flat roofs can be converted into a sloped metal roof system. Existing aged metal roof systems can be retrofitted with a new metal roof without removal of the existing roof. In addition, come see how energy efficient building solutions can be integrated into metal roof systems. The audience will gain a basic understanding of technologies such as cool roofing, above sheathing ventilation and photovoltaic systems.
See the latest tools used for installation of metal roof systems. Proper tools used for cutting, bending and fastening will be displayed. A mechanical seamer demonstration will take place to assist the audience in proper standing seam joinery. The latest in metal roofing safety equipment will also be presented.

About the Metal Construction Association
The Metal Construction Association brings together a diverse industry for the purpose of expanding the use of metal in construction through marketing, research and technology and education. Companies involved in MCA gain tremendous benefit from association activities that focus on research, codes and standards, market development, and technical programs. Driving MCA's market development efforts is The Metal Initiative (www.themetalinitiative.com), which is a program to increase the use of metal materials in construction through the education of the building and design communities about the benefits of metal.
MCA's next meeting is the 2013 Annual Meeting, set for January 27-29 in Rancho Mirage, CA.
