September 16, 2013, GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Metal Construction Association (MCA), an organization of manufacturers and suppliers whose metal wall and roofing components are used in buildings throughout North America and the main sponsor of METALCON International, will present commercial and residential roof and tool demonstrations at Booth #1247 at METALCON International, October 1-3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
The popular MCA Demos are designed to provide insight on the latest roofing and tool technologies, with discussions and demonstrations of both trends and techniques. This year features an expanded interactive seating area that combines the Solar Bay Live presentations along with the MCA Demos that allows attendees to easily watch and listen to all the outstanding contributors in one spot.
In addition to dedicated audience demonstrations for residential and commercial roofs each day, Metal in Action will be open for attendees to walk through during all exhibit hall hours. Participants can ask questions, work with tools, and have one-on-one discussions. This "up close and personal" approach is designed to give more information to take back and use in the field.
Commercial roof manufacturer members will focus on retrofit applications with metal. See how existing flat roofs can be converted into a sloped metal roof system. Existing aged metal roof systems can be retrofitted with a new metal roof without removal of the existing roof. In addition, come see how energy efficient building solutions can be integrated into metal roof systems. Natural metals (copper and zinc) and hand fabrication techniques are an added component of the commercial roof demonstrations. The audience will gain a basic understanding of technologies such as cool roofing, above sheathing ventilation and photovoltaic systems.
MCA's residential roof manufacturer members will focus on proper detailing of metal roof installations. The audience will learn the techniques used with stone coated metal roofing as well as pre-painted aluminum and steel. Both vertical seam and metal shingle installations will be displayed. Learn how metal roofing can offer energy efficiency to existing homes in both new construction and re-roofing.
The tools demonstration will be in conjunction with the residential and commercial roofing presentations. See the latest tools used for installation of metal roof systems. Proper tools used for cutting, bending and fastening will be displayed. A mechanical seamer demonstration will take place to assist the audience in proper standing seam joinery. The latest in metal roofing safety equipment will also be presented.
The following MCA member companies will be participating in the MCA Demos:

-- Copper Development Association
-- Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp.
-- RHEINZINK America, Inc.
-- Roof Hugger Inc.
